What you'll be doing
The Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion Lead is responsible for spearheading and integrating EDI principles and practices throughout all stages of the LTC project. This role ensures that EDI initiatives are embedded in both the workforce and project outputs, promoting an inclusive environment that values diversity and encourages equality.
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Set EDI performance metrics for the Roads North Enterprise and Supply Chain. Monitor progress and ensure continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant EDI legislation and corporate policies
- Coordinate and deliver EDI training and awareness programs to all project personnel.
- Develop communication materials to ensure EDI is at the heart of all project communications.
- Lead outreach programmes to attract diverse talent and promote the industry.
- Represent the company/project at industry events, career fairs, and educational forums.
- Regularly review EDI performance against LTC KPIs and create comprehensive reports for the project.
- Deliver the Balfour Beatty Right to Respect approach across the LTC program.
- Promote diversity and inclusion within all educational and employment initiatives.
- Develop and support community-based educational projects that highlight career opportunities in civil engineering.
- Provide guidance to project teams on EDI matters.
- Work towards external EDI Performance Accreditation such as Clear Assured.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Proven experience in an EDI or HR role.
- Have a solid understanding of national policy and trends particularly focussed in the EDI arena.
- Experience of working in a complex multi- contracted diverse culture
- Proven experience of building effective working relationships up to and including director level
- Energetic, enthusiastic style with the ability to inspire, motivate and influence others
- Computer literate with skills in the Microsoft suite
- High level of cultural awareness / sensitivity towards employees and customers and proficiency in assessing customer needs
- Highly motivated and capable of multi – tasking coupled with a team player attitude
- Courteous, helpful, able to be flexible to meet business needs and with a strong customer service ethos
- Able to analyse situations carefully and make rational judgements and logical decisions
- Able to manage time efficiently, plan and prioritise work activities
- Experience in working toward external EDI assurance
