This role is to work within Barts Newham University Hospital as part of a growing People Participation presence supporting patients and families to get involved in shaping the quality of services within NUH. It will be working as part of a small team (one other People Participation Lead in post already).

To work with the patient community to support, facilitate and encourage their participation in shaping and improving the service that Newham University Hospital provides. To work with the various teams and services to identify participation opportunties.

These are not clinical posts but aimed at people with lived experience.
These innovative posts focus on the need to bring strong leadership around the participation of people who use NUH services and carers in all aspects of both planning and delivery of NUH services within Newham to promote improved outcomes for service users, improve service user and carer experience through new insights and perspectives.
The post holder will work strategically across Newham in order to develop and implement a strategy that supports the broad participation agenda. They will project manage a variety of work streams that underpin the Newham participation agenda, ensuring that practice in each locality is coordinated and supports and responds to the NUHs corporate social inclusion strategies.
They will provide strong leadership, advice, and practical project work across the locality in the development of a culture that is socially inclusive, values participation and diversity. Supporting and maintaining effective communication, contributing to the training needs of staff in this aspect of their work. The post holder will need to develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
They will have a key role in delivering, locally, the NUHs People Participation Strategy and Action Plan, Membership Strategy and Volunteering Strategy.
