Dorset HealthCare is responsible for all mental health services and many physical health services in Dorset, delivering both hospital and community-based care. We are the biggest provider of healthcare in Dorset, and our services continually evolve and develop to meet the needs of the local community.
We serve a population of almost 800,000 people and employ around 7,000 staff, covering a wide range of expertise and specialisms. Our staff provide healthcare at over 300 sites, ranging from village halls and GP surgeries to mental health inpatient hospitals and community hospitals - as well as in people's homes.

Our community health services encompass: district nurses, health visitors, school nursing, end of life care, sexual health promotion, safeguarding children, diabetes education, audiology, speech and language therapy, dermatology, podiatry, orthopaedic services, wheelchair services, anti-coagulation services, pulmonary rehab, early discharge stroke services, Parkinsons care, community oncology and breastfeeding support services.
Our annual income is around £253 million.
We have University Trust status and work collaboratively with Bournemouth University to provide benefits for patients and staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy team working for Dorset HealthCare University NHS Trust based at Bridport Community Hospital.

The main responsibilities will be ( with supervision as required )
- To work autonomously to provide assessment and treatment/management for a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including those with complex needs. Referrals are received from GP, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, MIU/A+E, self referral and other NHS colleagues. When appropriate onward referral to other services may be required.
- To support the development of students and other colleagues .
- To assist the Team Lead in the management of the Physiotherapy Service i.e to be involved in service development

Qualification/education
Essential criteria
- Bsc Hons/Masters in Physiotherapy
- NHS Experience in Msk physiotherapy
- Evidence of relevant pre/post graduate training in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Evidence to show basic competency in musculoskeletal physiotherapy enabling the post holder to assess, diagnose and treat own caseload seeking assistance and advice as required
- Evidence of knowledge of current best practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy to inform clinical decision making.
Job specific experience

- Evidence of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment and treatment within the NHS
- Evidence of assessment and treatment skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy setting
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to write accurate patient records using SOAP format
