The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for an ambitious and creative individual to lead, manage and coordinate the development and delivery of our wide-reaching audience engagement programme.
As part of the Marketing, Communications and Audiences team, you will work closely with colleagues across the Trust to create a programme of engagement across the Shakespeare family homes (Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s New Place), that will help to grow and diversify our on-site audiences through exploring new perspectives of Shakespeare’s work, life and times.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, engaging and developing relationships with a diverse portfolio of artists, creatives and communities to inform and develop our engagement programme.
About You
With a passion for the arts and heritage, you will have experience of developing and delivering programmes in response to specific context, venues and themes. Ideally, you will have knowledge of commissioning, producing and liaising with artists and creatives and an interest in maximising opportunities through digital technologies.
You will have a proven commitment for diversity and audience development, as well as demonstrable understanding of the needs and motivations of specific audience segments. You will be committed and willing to take a hands-on approach to ensure the success of events and programmes.
A track record of project management, including strong stakeholder and budget management skills are essential. As is the ability to confidently project manage and motivate a team of staff and volunteers, as well as work independently.
You will be able to share your knowledge and enthusiasm for William Shakespeare’s life, works and times through our audience engagement programme, helping to ensure that all audiences have a positive experience with Shakespeare.
