The role
DLA Piper are looking for a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Specialist to lead on Engagement & Planning. This role will be a 12 month fixed term contract.
You will implement a plan for engaging our people and external partners that support the firm’s DE&I vision, values and strategy. We are seeking a DE&I specialist or a comms and engagement specialist with DE&I experience with the ability to action a clear engagement plan, the creativity to communicate effectively and the motivation to deliver the plan to the highest standards.
You will support the delivery of the firm’s DE&I strategy across all groups and geographies (International coverage) which will position the firm as a truly inclusive global business law firm. This means paying close attention to our global audiences, applying sensitivity and diligence in interpreting and meeting their needs.
Communications
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the DE&I Engagement Plan, working closely with the Communications and Responsible Business teams and international People Networks to ensure DE&I key dates, reporting deadlines, and events and awards are marked, both internally and externally.
- Align people network communication plans with the DE&I engagement plan to ensure that we have a drumbeat of engagement around DE&I
- Manage and take accountability for the practical implementation and rollout of said plans and evaluating critical success factors.
- Manage the International DE&I intranet site, driving people to keep up to date with DE&I initiatives
- Manage the production of internal DE&I news, videos, presentations and other content, including copywriting, editing, proof reading and working with external design agencies.
- Integrating with digital, social and PR plans as appropriate, and always ensuring brand-alignment.
Data & Insights
- Lead on delivery of DE&I reporting and insights (i.e. Executive reports, external commitments and other mandatory reporting).
Benchmarks, Commitments And Awards
- Support our people networks with benchmarking communications activity.
- Draft and enter DE&I awards submissions on behalf of DLA Piper International. Coordinate applications for Regional DE&I awards, sharing applications and information for optimal impact across DLA Piper International.
About You
- Have a demonstrable track record in delivering effective communications.
- Have experience working with intranets and social channels.
- Have supported and implemented firm wide projects and initiatives. Be comfortable multi-tasking and working to sometimes conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment.
- Confident in working and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Budget and supplier responsibility and management.
- Have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Exhibit cultural curiosity and competence, show that they identify with the firm, its objectives and values.
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and be fluent in English.
- Be able to exercise empathy, discretion and sensitivity.
- Have a working knowledge of DE&I best practices, reporting and linkages to HR practices.

The DE&I team are well positioned within the Talent Development Function, working seamlessly as an expert team with specialists in Talent Management, Leadership, Engagement, Performance Management, Learning and Development and Wellbeing.
This team is having a profound impact on creating a diverse, equity and inclusive workplace which differentiates our firm and impacts client experience and is closely aligned to the strategic people priorities for the firm.
