About the GOC
We are the regulator for the optical professions in the UK. We currently register approximately 33,000 optometrists, dispensing opticians, student opticians and optical businesses. Our purpose is to protect the public by promoting high standards of education, conduct and performance amongst opticians.
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-looking equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) Manager to work alongside our employees, members and workers to deliver our EDI strategy for 2025-30.
Our EDI work has been recognised by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) and we have made a substantial series of commitments in our new five-year corporate strategy. This includes a dedicated EDI strategy that sets out of our key objectives as an organisation, including the actions and measures we will use to achieve them.
This is a dynamic role that will enable you to lead the conversation around EDI across our organisation and with key stakeholders, including the professions we regulate. You will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with others and facilitate a collaborative approach to the delivery of our EDI ambitions, matched with excellent opportunities to report on, and celebrate your achievements. You will also have a key role in ensuring that new policies and procedures are fully cognisant of any EDI implications, and support services to identify actions to appropriately manage these impacts.
Supported by the Head of Governance and the Head of People & Culture, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in our business planning and strategy development.
