Overview Of Project/role
We’re looking for a highly engaged, solutions-orientated and can-do Specialist to join the
Workforce Diversity and Inclusion team.
The role holder will join us at an exciting time as we continue to embed TfL’s ambitious 7-year Diversity and Inclusion strategy, Action on Inclusion, launched in June 2023.
The role holder will work collaboratively alongside other Specialists as part of the Workforce Diversity and Inclusion team and will report into a Diversity and Inclusion Lead. The role will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation to ensure we embed a truly inclusive culture - where colleagues feel they belong and can be their authentic selves at work.
A key focus of the role will be providing strategic subject-matter expertise on Diversity and Inclusion best practice and legislation to stakeholders across all areas of TfL, and supporting the development of the appropriate projects, processes, and behaviours to embed our strategic commitments and long-term promise to our people.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with HR colleagues to support business areas with interpreting their Diversity and Inclusion dashboard data and provide coaching and good practice advice to improve performance in line with scorecard targets
- Provide thought leadership, guidance, and support to the Colleague Network Groups to ensure that their work provides an inclusive voice to staff while aligning with business priorities
- Take forward and develop initiatives to deliver TfL duties under the Equality Act to ensure legislative compliance, and delivery against the TfL Action on Inclusion Strategy, through collaboration with Business Partnering
- Support the implementation of best practice in area of Diversity and Inclusion to support business objectives, aligning systems, processes, and culture to support organisational goals
- Develop initiatives and activities that will help TfL to create and embed a culture of inclusion
- Interpret equality legislation, acting as subject matter expert in policy creation as required
- Undertake quality assurance of HR related equality impact assessments
- Lead on Diversity and Inclusion benchmarking, including Disability Confident
- Manage the delivery of Diversity and Inclusion governance, committees and reporting including contributing to pay gap reporting
- Proactively identify key workforce issues / risks affecting colleagues with protected characteristics in their recruitment, retention, and progression within TfL, working with Colleague Network Groups to identify issues and deliver solutions
- Establish and maintain networks with external organisations to ensure knowledge of legislation is up to date and in line with best practice
- Undertake quality assurance of HR related equality impact assessments

- Consulting ability, managing mid-level projects, and applying expertise to provide business advice to managers and executives (Essential)
- Ability to analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources
- Able to translate the strategy and agreed deliverables into achievable plans and a prioritised implementation map
- Can build organisational development interventions that align and integrate structure, capability, systems, process, and culture to support organisational goals

- Facilitation skills to support executive level learning interventions
Knowledge
- Good understanding of the Equality Act 2010 (Essential)
- Knowledge of the Mayor’s Inclusive London strategy
- External developments and best practice in areas of diversity and inclusion (Essential)
- Knowledge of the issues, barriers and benefits related to the recruitment, retention, and inclusion of colleagues with different protected characteristics as well as wider groups who may be marginalised at work
Experience
- Experience of a diversity and inclusion environment within a complex organisation with proven ability to deliver diversity and inclusion changes to support the diversity and inclusion agenda (Essential)
- Experience of thinking strategically and looking at long term goals (Essential)
