A DAY IN THE LIFE
The Learning Manager will sit in the People Development and Learning team for UK and Ireland and will be responsible for partnering with the business to build an appropriate and progressive learning offer to ensure that people are equipped with the business and soft skills that they need now and in the future. The successful candidate will be responsible for the learning offer for a number of strategic functions within the business.
What are the key duties of this role?
Management of the international and local formal offer for key strategic functions – a key part of this role involves developing a close relationship with senior leaders heading up a number of functions. With them, you will identify key learning needs ( current and emerging ), and your role is to ensure that you have a learning offer in place to meet these needs ( either local or international ). In the case of local offers, you will need to liaise directly with providers and work with UK and international stakeholders to ensure the content is relevant and high impact. In some cases, these interventions are then used as international best practice
Oversee learning needs analysis for your populations – once the learning catalogue has been defined, you will lead the learning needs analysis process ( working closely with the HRBPs and managers ) to ensure that all in-scope employees are offered learning opportunities when relevant for their role
Drive self-select soft skill learning opportunities – you will be responsible for identifying soft skill learning needs and driving learning opportunities to support them, often via our self-select ‘flex’ offering which is offer via freelance trainers
Drive non-formal learning offering – a key part of your role is to advertise and promote the non-formal offering e.g. coursera, LinkedIn learning to drive a 70:20:10 split of learning in our business.
Facilitation: on occasions you will be expected to run some of our local courses such as feedback and Decode the learning offer. In addition, you might be asked to facilitate or input into business team sessions
Connect learning lead: Connect is our new performance management approach. A key part of your role will be to continue to embed the new performance approach within the organisation and proactively partnering with HR, Reward on the key performance processes across the year ( for example compensation review)
Learning Fridays: each month we run a Friday afternoon of online learning events. You will be expected to take the lead on a number of these throughout the year, including defining the topic. sourcing speakers and comms
AI upskilling lead: AI skills development will be a key business priority in 2023, and you will take the lead on this. This will include liaising with our international learning teams, and feeding in the UKI perspective on the plan
Innovation: you will be expected to seek out new and innovative ways to engage the population in learning e.g. overseeing learning week and launching a learning tribe. To do this effectively, you will need to demonstrate a passion for learning, and be open to test and learn new initiatives to keep pace with what you consider to be the future of learning
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion : You will closely partner with DEI Director and other SME`s across the business on roll out and implementation of the DEI learning offerings.
Budget management – Your budget is c £400K. You will be responsible for tracking this budget and ensuring that we get the best ROI possible
Adhoc support to the People Development and Learning team and Director– you will be an integral part of the learning team, and will therefore be expected to participate in developing and implementing the team vision and events such as Pulse.
Who You Are
- Excellent communication skills: ability to build genuine relationships at all levels, to actively listen, question and influence people in a constructive way. You'll be charismatic, energetic and have an engaging delivery style with ease at using PowerPoint.
- Organisational skills: ability to plan, co-ordinate and react quickly to changes, to prioritise and manage your own workload. Experience in managing large projects is useful
- A drive to constantly improve – the status quo doesn’t roll in our team – we’re always looking to make things even better
- Attention to detail: ability to analyze data and draw conclusions, you‘ll be able to learn systems and use spreadsheets with speed and accuracy.
- Integrity and professionalism: to act as an ambassador for learning, Company values and culture internally and to liaise with external training partners.
- Confidence and autonomy: in a small team you need to be comfortable speaking your mind, taking ownership of your objectives and helping others around you when necessary.
